abstract = "Landsat5-TM satellite images were used for the temporal analyses
of the UHE lake of Balbina-AM, Brazil from 1994 to 1999, aiming to
define sites undergoing euthrophic and/or colonisation processes
by plants in the island and terra firme shore lines, exposed
during the dry season. The SPRING/INPE software was used for
processing the satellite images by integrating digital processing
techniques with visual analyses of multispectral 3B, 4G and 5R
bands. The results obtained enabled differentiating the
reservoir's water level fluctuations in the rainy season, as well
as in defining the plant species colonising the permanently
flooded by black water sites, 12 years following the flooding of
the area.",
